So, what does a modern assignment editor do these days? If he decides that female reporters are particularly vulnerable when placed in chaotic situations in Arab cultures, and he will, therefore, send only male reporters, he will be breaking laws against sexual discrimination in many Western countries. But if he is indiscriminate, and send female reporters into such situations, is he not liable for sending them into situations in which they are at greater risk of being sexually assaulted?
